Let’s get one thing straight: I’ve tried the $50 serums. I’ve scrolled through every “glass skin routine” on TikTok. And I’ve been tempted by every Korean skincare product online.
I used to think my skin issues could be fixed with the right serum. I was all about external fixes until I realised that what you put in your body shows up on your face.
So, I decided to switch things up. No more guessing games. I committed to clean eating, drinking real water (not just iced coffee), moving my body daily, and sleeping like my dreams depended on it.
And within 3 weeks… my skin literally changed.
Here’s exactly what I did and how you can glow from the inside out too.
What I Changed in My Diet
The biggest shift? I started actually feeding my skin.
I added fruits and veggies to every meal, even if it was just a handful of kale in a smoothie or some berries in my oatmeal.
Here’s what I focused on:
- Berries: antioxidants fuel your glow
- Avocados: healthy fat that hydrates from the inside
- Spinach & Kale: full of skin-clearing vitamins
- Organic Carrot Juice: beat-carotene popped my natural radiance
- Less Processed foods/Dairy: no bloating, no breakouts
I wasn’t eating “perfectly,” just intentionally. I still had fun meals but I just made sure my skin was invited to the party!
My Water Intake
This was a game-changer.
I committed to drinking at least 3 water bottles a day. One as soon as I wake up, one mid-morning, one with lunch, and one during my evening wind-down.
I started using water enhancers with electrolytes which made me not crave any other drink other than water.
Once I upped my intake, the difference was wild.
My skin was plumper, less dull, and I had no breakouts after 2 weeks. My face looked like it had been using hyaluronic acid but it was just hydration from the inside.
The Role of Exercise
I started using a personal trainer app (because let’s be honest, I’m trying to grow these glutes!!) but I didn’t know what I’d be doing for my body long-term.
Even if you aren’t lifting heavy like me, just getting your body moving everyday makes such a huge difference. Whether that’s yoga/pilates, taking a 20 minute walk, or even dancing in your living room.
Moving daily helped:
- Increase circulation (hello, natural flush)
- Reduce stress (aka less stress acne)
- Make me feel strong, energised, and glowy from the inside out
The post-workout glow? So real. And the better I felt in my body, the more confident I felt in my skin.
My Sleep Routine
Sleep is skincare. Period.
I used to scroll until 1 a.m. and wonder why my skin looked tired. Once I got consistent with sleep, my skin thanked me immediately.
What I changed:
- Started winding down by 10 PM (or earlier)
- No phone in bed!!
- Reading for 30 minutes before bed (makes you sleepy)
- Spritzing lavender mist on my bed (aromatherapy got me ready for the night)
Waking up rested meant fewer dark circles, less puffiness, and way more glow. It’s free, it’s real, and it works.
What I Noticed First…
By the end of week 1, my skin was noticably:
- Less inflamed
- More supple and hydrated
- Smoother in texture
- Glowing without makeup
By week three, I felt like I had finally unlocked a version of myself that didn’t rely on filters or foundation to feel good.
My boyfriend even noticed a difference. It felt so relaxing to lay my head on his t-shirt without worrying about makeup transfer.
Final Hot Girl Reminder:
You don’t need a 10-step skincare routine or $200 products to glow.
Start with what you’re putting in your body, stay consistent, and give it a little time.
Your skin is always listening! So, speak to it with love, hydration, and a few leafy greens.
